God’s Recipe For Liberty And Justice For ALL
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Isaiah 58:6
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”
O-bservation:
Our great God spoke through the prophet Isaiah to us, His people. He said the way the righteous bring justice to those who are oppressed is by fasting and humbling themselves before Him. He said if His people obey Him in this matter, He will set the oppressed free and break the very system of oppression in society.
A-pplication:
This is undeniably “God’s Recipe For Liberty And Justice For ALL!” Yet, who is willing to do this? Oh, I know I, along with my church, celebrate fasting each year, but I can’t say that it’s been heartfelt for us. I’m sad to say that it’s been more of a ritual than a spiritual hunger for true “liberty and justice for all” like God is promoting here. However, think with me. What if the Lord’s church worldwide would join together with brokenness and repentant hearts, and what if we wept from our front doorsteps to the altars of our churches asking God to intervene? Seriously, what if we did that? God told Abraham that He would spare Sodom and Gomorrah if Abraham could find just ten righteous souls in those combined cities. Abraham could not. I fear we may be fast approaching those sad numbers. We really have no other recourse as believers than to choose, “God’s Recipe For Liberty And Justice For ALL!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me not to play church; instead, help me to BE THE CHURCH. We have arrived at a place called “DESPERATE” in this world. Give us another chance to obey You. Amen
