God’s Levitical Way or Man’s Way: Nepotism?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Numbers 8:11

Aaron is to present the Levites before the Lord as a wave offering from the Israelites, so that they may be ready to do the work of the Lord.

O-bservation:

In the Old Testament the Levites, one of the twelve tribes of Israel, were set apart by the Lord to be the ministers for all of Israel. If you were born a Levite, it meant you would serve in the Lord’s work in some capacity.

A-pplication:

Few people want to acknowledge the “Levitical Way” as being able to work today in the church. Partly because of the word nepotism, which was coined in Italy because of an immoral pope named Rodrigo Borgia who took the name Pope Alexander VI. He acknowledged a number of mistresses who gave him sons, whom he called “Nephews,” which is where the word “Nepotism” comes from. But if a man or woman of God raise their children to serve the Lord, shouldn’t their children be given the first opportunity to serve with them? Because one man abused his own vow and calling, should the system God put in place in the Bible be disallowed? There will always be phonies like Hophni and Phinehas because man has a will, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I offer my own life and family as living sacrifices. Use us as You will. Amen
