1 Chronicles 11:9
And David became more and more powerful, because the Lord Almighty was with him.
For seven years and six months, David had led as King of Judah. But at this point, the people of Israel came to him and said they wanted him to be their king as well. Much had happened during that seven-and-a-half-year period that warranted their request, but the fact is that David became king of all the tribes of Israel at this point. The Bible says this happened because “The Lord Almighty was with him.”
Where does your source of power come from? I have a wonderful opportunity at this stage of life to observe people from a distance. I watch them do their best to build a team. I watch them do their best to motivate and reward the people on their team. But, make no mistake about it, they’ve built a team to help THEM in THEIR mission, whatever that mission may be. More often than not, I’ve watched their dreams vanish. Someone on their team gets a better idea and splits the team and starts their own team. What’s the problem? The problem is they became their own source of power. This was not the case in David’s life. His source of power came from the Almighty. Read the Psalms and watch David continually cry to God for help. His relationship was so tight with the Almighty that God knew he could trust David. You and I must do the same. If we will pursue the Lord with our whole heart, I believe we will, together, find our help in “God, Our Power Source.”
I learned a long time ago to build my hopes on You alone. You are my power source. Amen
