Get Rid Of THEM!
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Acts 21:36
The crowd that followed kept shouting, “Get rid of him!”
O-bservation:
Here is what Paul faced when he had arrived in Jerusalem for the last time. While there, he taught in the temple and was questioned about his stance on Gentiles and them not having to go through the same act of purification that the Jews did. Paul took four gentile men and joined them in the Jewish rite of purification. But, as they were coming to the end of their rites of purification, some other Jewish leaders stirred up the crowd against St. Paul. They took him and beat him and almost killed him before he was taken by authorities into prison. On the way into the prison house, they screamed against Paul and said, “Get Rid Of HIM!”
A-pplication:
Whoever said following Jesus would be easy? This life is filled with love and joy and peace and more. Yet along the way, there will always be those who stand in opposition to faith in Christ. Paul was never one to complain, and without his writings we would be desperate for the holy direction he gave us from the very heart of the Almighty. Paul was a good man. He died a martyr’s death for his faith. The question is, has anything changed? Well yes, over two billion people on the planet claim to follow Christ. However, if the truth is known, the Judeo/Christian ethic has suffered greatly over the years. No matter what you may think, there is a growing number of people who would say, “Get Rid Of THEM!” But that should never detour us from our love for our blessed savior. No matter what anyone says, we must live for and serve the one whose name is above every name.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m ready and willing to follow wherever You May lead me. I am Yours. Amen
