Get Back To Where You Once Belonged

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Revelation 2:4

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

O-bservation:

Jesus spoke through the writer of the Revelation to the Church at Ephesus. He said that they had done many things right and that they were on the same page as the Lord as to what they would and would not tolerate; however, the Lord said He wasn’t happy with them. He said they had lost their first love of Him.

A-pplication:

If the truth be known, the Church at Ephesus looks a whole lot like a number of us present day “Jesus Followers.” Let me see if you can relate. Remember the first time Jesus brought you out of darkness into His marvelous light? If ever the term, “like a kid in a candy store” applied, it had to be describing my early days with Jesus. Nothing was more important than devotional times, gospel outreach times, and personal evangelism times. The day to day relationship with Jesus was my life. That’s where I’ve always belonged. But the cares of this life, and family life, and business, and calendar, and schedule turns life into an intense cauldron of decisions, and sometimes Jesus is at the bottom of the list. Hardly a week goes by that I don’t think of this passage to the Ephesians and say to myself, “Get Back To Where You Once Belonged.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help Me This AM! I know where I’m from and where I belong. Amen
