Forward OR Froward?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

1 Kings 1:5a

Now Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith, put himself forward and said, “I will be king.”

This man, Adonijah, was one of King David’s sons. David was near death, and during the time that the King was physically weak, his son Adonijah put himself FORWARD and said, “I’m going to be king.”

The word FROWARD means to live in a state of disobedience. When Adonijah put himself FORWARD, he was taking upon himself more than he was anointed by God to do. Yes, he was anointed by the Lord based upon his birth as a son of the King. Yes, he was a prince. But it was not his call to make on who would succeed his father. If Adonijah had Israel’s best interest at heart, and for sure his father’s best interest at heart, he would surely have talked to his father many times before this event happened to hear his father’s desire for the nation and for himself. That’s what a true FORWARD thinker does. Unfortunately, Adonijah only had what he thought was best for himself in mind. That turned him into a FROWARD son. Because you and I are free moral agents made in the image of God, and we have a choice in the matter, the question becomes what will we choose? “Forward OR Froward?”

Dear Jesus,

This AM I choose to be a FORWARD thinker. I want what’s best for Your kingdom and my life. With Your help I choose to reject FROWARD living and choose FORWARD living instead. Amen
