Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.
As St. Paul concludes his masterful letter to the church at Rome, he is joyous over the church’s obedience to the will of God for them. Then he says, “I wish that you would always be WISE to what is GOOD for you and INNOCENT to the EVIL that lurks in the shadows to take you down.”
All of my adult life I’ve been a Christian minister. I can honestly say that when I read this passage this AM, the first thing I thought was that this must be “Every Pastor’s WISH For You” the people. There have been countless times in my own life when I heard of a fellow “Jesus Follower” who crashed in his personal walk with Jesus. It’s evident that even seasoned believers are now being tempted in ways I never dreamed of before. It seems as though the Apostle’s words have gone completely unheeded by many. Remember, Paul’s desire in this passage is, I believe, “Every Pastor’s WISH For You” the reader. He wants all of us to be WISE to that which is GOOD for us and INNOCENT to that which is EVIL. I can tell that Paul’s wish for you is MY wish for you as well.
Help my friend who reads this Devo this AM to be WISE to the things that are GOOD and INNOCENT to that which is EVIL. Amen
