Even In The Dark

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Isaiah 50:10

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God.

O-bservation:

Many theologians believe this to be a word to God’s people in general, and not just to the people who were hearing God’s prophets, whoever they might have been, in that day. The admonition then is to follow God’s direction by way of His Word, “Even In The Dark.”

A-pplication:

As a child, I was, like most children, afraid of the dark. I imagined people moving and coming at me while in my darkened room at night. Of course, they never arrived because it was just the light of the moon shining through the wind-blown trees outside and casting images on my bedroom wall. Now, as an adult, the sun can be shining at high noon on a particular day, yet the problems life has thrown at us often makes it feel like nighttime on the inside. It is in those times that the Lord admonished us, through the prophet, that we are to trust His Word to us no matter what. If it’s in the best of times, or most prosperous of times, or most desperate of times, or “Even In The Dark,” our God is saying to us this AM, “Trust My Word!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Sometimes, even in the light of day, it feels like nighttime in my soul. Help me, I pray, today and every day, to trust You “Even In The Dark.” Amen
