Down Will Land You Up
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Matthew 23:12
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
O-bservation:
These are the words of our Lord, Jesus Christ. In speaking not only to His disciples but also to a wider audience of listeners, He let them know how their lives would go. He said, “If you try and exalt yourself you will be humbled or brought low. If you seek to humble yourself or stoop low, you will, in turn, be exalted.” In Jesus’ terms, “Down Will Land You Up.”
A-pplication:
During these continual days of being “Sheltered In” as a result of the Coronavirus, I’ve had a chance to work from home. As a leader, I monitor what others are saying and doing while in these same pandemic surroundings. One person I’ve watched on social media is absolutely in love with money. He promotes money, he is enamored with money, and millions of people are attracted to his love of money. I’m actually quite embarrassed to watch what he says and does because whenever I do, I can’t help but think of these words of Jesus. I’m not condemning the man, I’ve just lived long enough to see lots of people like him come crashing down in time. The best way to live life is to walk in the humility of heart and mind. I’m not saying we have to try to purge our souls from arrogance, we just have to fall in love with our Lord and Savior. He’s the One who made a way for all of us. He taught right here that the best way up is down. Because “Down Will Land You Up!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m ready to humble myself again this AM. I have learned that when I choose the low path of humility, it usually lands me in places I could never have arrived at on my own. Amen
