Don’t You Worry About A Thing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 23:1

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

O-bservation:

These are the words of King David of Israel, who was a man after God’s own heart. Here he lets us know that because he is under the loving care of the Almighty One, who he refers to as HIS shepherd, he lacks nothing.

A-pplication:

It’s always important that when we read the Word of God, we read it in the context it’s written in. God’s Word is eternal and works in any context, however, those of us who call the same God OUR shepherd today would be in need of everything if we had to live in David’s time. In the winters, David never had electrical or gas-driven heat throughout his palace. In the summer, no A/C in the brutal heat of the Judean wilderness. He had no indoor plumbing. Water was always an issue, and sanitation was a huge challenge. There was no refrigeration and no way to store meat but to salt it and hang it out to dry. I could go on forever, but you get the picture. In that setting, David said, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.” Yet, today, in this learned age and in a society that seemingly has everything, we often complain to God that we have SO MUCH NEED! Let me remind you this AM that if the Lord truly is your shepherd, then “Don’t You Worry About A Thing!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so grateful that because You are my shepherd, I Lack Nothing! Amen
