Domination, For What?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ecclesiastes 2:18

I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me.

O-bservation:

In this chapter, King Solomon the wise man pursued DOMINATION of everyone and everything in his kingdom. He spared himself no pleasure or delight. Anything he wanted he took freely. Why not? He was the ruler and KING. Yet in the final analysis, he couldn’t even be happy for what he dominated because when he died he knew someone would take over his stuff.

A-pplication:

To me this is a story of the fleeting joy of domination over property and people. Even in our contemporary culture we’ve watched people who had so much money and stuff and purchased pleasures, yet they appear to be somewhat mad and unhappy. Why is this? Real joy only comes from serving and not dominating. When the wisest man who ever lived complains that he just can’t get no satisfaction, the question must be asked, “DOMINATION For What?” I submit this AM that it’s time to give up and give over to the real king. King Jesus. No domination needed.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I don’t need earthly power. I need Your love and sense of, “I’ve come to serve people into the gift of eternal life.” Help me do well in this pursuit today. Amen
