Do What You Want
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Judges 17:6
In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit.
O-bservation:
This historical observation by the writer follows the twenty-year rule of the Israeli Judge known as Samson. There was no Judge to rule following Samson, so the people did what they saw as good for them to do.
A-pplication:
Recently I read an interesting book that detailed the twelve technologies that will rule the world over the next thirty years. The author talked with glee about AI (Artificial Intelligence) as though it was the answer to all the world’s problems. He encouraged the reader to embrace robotic technology and make it a friend. As I finished the book, somewhat impressed, I also realized that the author wrote from a place where God was void in his mind. I then looked at history and thought to myself that anywhere God isn’t leaves a man to do what is right in his own eyes. Humankind is incapable of doing GOOD separated from God. When you “Do What You Want” others get hurt, and “Hurt People” hurt people. Today, the only real choice is to do what Jesus wants.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
My only desire is to do what YOU want! Amen
Comment (1)
When I do something which leaves me with regrets, I know that it was not the will of God. However, when I did speak up the truth that may offend or hurt, I had no remorse but I was not sure that Jesus would have done it the way I did. Then the Bible passage of the money changers came up to my mind. Jesus had hurt the feelings of the Relegious Leaders when He turned the tables and freed the birds from their cages and it was prophetic and scriptural. “My house is a house of prayer and you made it a den of thieves.”
I therefore pray that I will only do the will of God, in Jesus name!
