Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
In a very poignant moment, Jesus looked deeply into the faces of His disciples and a few others and said that if they truly wanted to be His followers, they must deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow HIM.
“Deny, Take, Follow.” You would never see these words on a job application for any position anywhere. However, these three words and what they stand for are the essentials for every employee in any position in the world if they and the company they work for are to be successful. Think about it. When you are hired at a gas station or a Fortune 500 company you have agreed to “Deny Yourself” while on the job. In other words, what you do with your life must come to somewhat of an end for you to take on someone else’s dreams for a bigger and greater success than you are presently experiencing. You also agree to “Take Up” the assignment that someone says is your responsibility to make this big dream come to pass in the company you’ve joined. And finally, you must “Follow” the will and dreams of the company owner and trust fully that he or she has a plan that will provide for you and your family as long as you’re with them. Why is it then that when Jesus lays down the cost of following Him everyone freaks? If we can do it for some job, certainly we can do it for the King. “Deny, Take, Follow.”
Today I willingly once again Deny myself. I also choose to Take up my cross. Finally, I choose to Follow You wholeheartedly until I see You face to face. Amen
