Come Out Of The Dark

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

John 19:39a

He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night.

O-bservation:

This is the story of Joseph of Arimathea asking for the body of Jesus so he could bury it in his tomb, which had never before been used. He did it at night because he didn’t want anyone to know he was a follower of Jesus. The man who came to help him was a lawyer named Nicodemus, who had come to meet with Jesus at night to discuss eternal life.

A-pplication:

Both of the men I’ve mentioned in this passage appear to have had a secret admiration for Jesus. Each of them followed Him in the dark. Yes, there was a moment when Nicodemus spoke up for Jesus before the Sanhedrin, the legal body of Judaism at that time (John 7). But as far as the people were concerned, Nicodemus may have been referencing a legal matter for all they knew. The point is, there are many secret followers of Jesus today. But how can they influence the masses for Jesus when by and large the masses don’t know the Lord? There was a point when Jesus said this gospel will no longer be hidden but instead will be shouted from the housetops. To every follower of Jesus, the time is now to “Come Out Of The Dark.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I am not one to put my candle under a bush. I realize that we believers are children of the light. Help me to shine for You at all times. Amen
