Born To Be A Blessing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Genesis 12:2

I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

When God called Abram, as he was known at that time, He told him that he would be made into a great nation, and that God would bless him. The Lord also said that He would make his name great, and that Abram was to be a blessing to others.

This is a big day for my wife and me, because on this day in 1973 we were married! Wow! Time flies! But I do remember reading this verse as a young adult, sometime before I was married. I didn’t receive the great nation or the great name part for myself, but I can tell you the part about God promising to bless Abram … I took that as my own. And that part about you’re supposed to be a blessing … I took that for myself as well. I know that God has blessed my wife and me these many years together, and I hope we’ve been a blessing to others. To be honest, I don’t know what else there is in life but being a blessing. The joy of generosity and giving of oneself for Jesus and His people is so fulfilling that I’m hoping there will be the opportunity to be a blessing in heaven. You see, for me I believe that every real “Follower Of Jesus” is “Born To Be A Blessing.”

Dear Jesus,

Today I’m so very thankful to You that I’ve been “Born To Be A Blessing.” It’s been so wonderful through the years to see people blessed up into real significance. I’m happy to be a blessing! Amen
