Being Not Doing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Galatians 3:11

Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”

The Galatian Christians had begun returning to their old Jewish ways and customs after having started with Jesus by faith. Here the Apostle Paul said to them that the law could not save them because those who have been justified before the Lord have been justified by faith.

This entire book is about Faith over Law. It’s not about rejecting the Law; it’s more about “Being Not Doing.” To be a Christian can only be accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ. Consequently, it’s never about what do I have to DO to be a Christian; instead it is who I am as a Christian. I am a BELIEVER. When the Philippian jailer asked Paul, “What must I do to be saved?” Paul replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:30-31). Believing is all about Faith, not Law. When by faith in Jesus I am now His follower, I will abide by the law of the land. But it is not by doing the law that I am saved. No! It’s only by faith in Jesus that I am saved. That’s why, from this point on in our lives as “Jesus Followers,” it will always be about Being Not Doing.

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for the truth that has set me free. I never have to lie about what You’ve done for me, but it certainly sounds unbelievable! Amen
