Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Now spend the night here so that I can find out what else the Lord will tell me.
This is the story of Balaam. He was a prophet. Balak, the King of Moab, had gone to inquire of him and asked him if he would curse God’s people, Israel. Balak told them to spend the night, and he would pray about it. God told Balaam, “Absolutely NO!” (vs. 12). After he had reported the next day to Balak that God had said NO, Balak’s people offered him money if he would curse God’s people. Once again, he said, “Let me pray about it!”
Throughout my life, I have read this passage over and over, and I still say to this day, “Are You Serious?” Balaam knew before he prayed the first time that God would say NO! And of course, God said NO! But then they enticed the prophet with money for his curse of God’s people. You see, the Moabites saw the sight of the vast Israeli numbers, and they were sure they would be defeated, and they were, in time. But in the meantime, there is this story of the deceived prophet. Please hear this. Deception begins when an individual begins praying about things they know are wrong already! Balaam is remembered after this throughout scripture as the prophet who was deceived.
Help me this AM to keep my heart, soul, mind, and flesh absorbed in Your Word. Man’s word will fail me. Your Word has never failed me. Amen
