Are You Protected?
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Numbers 2:17
Then the tent of meeting and the camp of the Levites will set out in the middle of the camps. They will set out in the same order as they encamp, each in their own place under their standard.
O-bservation:
In this second chapter of the Book of Numbers, the Lord gave Moses the proper arrangement for every tribe in Israel whenever they established camp at the end of each day’s travel. The important thing is that the center of the camp featured the tent of meeting, which housed the Ark of the Covenant. Encamped around the Ark of the Covenant was the Tribe of Levi. They were the ministers of the Israelites, and they were purposely encamped around the tent of meeting to protect the people from the wrath of God.
A-pplication:
The Levite’s served the house of God and the people of the Lord. They were somewhat like modern lawyers who mediated between the Lord and His people. In effect, they were the people’s protection whenever sin had occurred. They assisted the people in their sacrificing to the Lord to cover their sins. Of course, we believe (those who follow Jesus) that Jesus was sent from heaven by His Father to be the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of all humankind. He is our high priest. He is our lawyer. He is the one who mediates on our behalf before the Lord Most High. Just like the Levite’s in the Old Testament, who in a spiritual sense protected the rest of the tribes of Israel, Jesus is our protection today. He covers us. He mediates for us. He PROTECTS us. So here’s the question, “Are You Protected?”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I am so happy that You are my protector. I’m thankful that You cover me. Amen
