A Promise For The Ages
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Deuteronomy 31:8
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
O-bservation:
So these were the words that Moses gave to Joshua before he handed off the leadership of the nation of Israel to him. This promise to Joshua was predicated on him being willing to follow the word of God completely. You can read these instructions in Joshua chapter one. What some fail to understand is that this is “A Promise For The Ages” for all who obey as the Lord told Joshua to obey.
A-pplication:
Why would God only make this promise to special people? God loves all of His creation. His promises are yeah and amen to those who believe. What is true is that we don’t hear the stories of how God has never left me, Rich Wilkerson, or forsaken me. We don’t all get to hear your story. We hear the story of Joshua and say, “Well, of course, God would say that to Joshua, he was special, and he was a great leader.” But the truth is, you may be the same as Joshua but in a different context. Our God loves all of His people from the beginning of time. If we are willing to obey His Word and put Him first in our lives, He will take care of each of us the same way He took care of Joshua. Why? Because this is “A Promise For The Ages.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m grateful that even though I will never be known like Joshua was known, I am still blessed by my Lord and Savior, just like Joshua was. Amen
