Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
What you have seen with your eyes do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame?
Here the wise man says that when you receive what you feel is critical news, just hold it. “There’s Always MORE To The Story.” If you move hastily to report it, you risk the rest of the truth coming out and in turn being made to look the fool.
Certainly, this does not apply when it comes to a crime having been committed. At that point all of us are required by law to report what we know. This is more about information that is critical in other categories of living. Business deals, family issues, and political arenas are all places that Solomon is speaking into in this passage. Wise people always wait until they have ALL the information they can gather before they weigh in on the subject at hand. Hasty assumptions usually come back to bite us in the end. Emotions too often drive what we do. This is not God’s plan for any of us. Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Only when we have both sides of the story are we free to make our own call, because “There’s Always MORE To The Story!”
Help me search a matter out before making any unwise decisions. Help me to remember there’s still TIME to gather more information. With Your help I want to be a trusted reporter of Good News. Amen
