A Risky Post

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Proverbs 24:26

An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.

O-bservation:

Solomon, the wisest King who ever lived, is not trying to win friends and isn’t wanting to sugar coat how he feels. He simply says, “When someone is truly honest with me, it’s like a kiss on the lips.”

A-pplication:

Because of the times in which we live, this is “A Risky Post.” The reason I say that is with 700 hundred wives and 300 concubines, Solomon knew what a kiss did for him. He was all man in the heterosexual way, and just felt good when he kissed a woman. I feel good when I kiss my wife. For a man who was an all-powerful king, he most likely knew that people who approached him had their own agenda and were hoping to flip the meeting in their direction for their purposes. Certainly he was always on edge when anyone approached him. So when a meeting concluded, and the person had been honest with him, Solomon said “In those moments I feel like I’ve been kissed.” This has nothing to do with sex. It’s a simple metaphor. Just know what your complete honesty means to someone when you speak with them. It’s still, “A Risky Post.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, help me to leave my house and be honest and forthright with everyone I come in contact with. I want all of my meetings today to bless the one I speak with. Amen

  1. Even I try to be honest and have integrity, I still think that all truth can not always be told. The French say “ Toute verite n’est pas bonne a dire” remains the principle of my life. Unfortunately I speak what I think is the truth when I am urge by the Holy Spirit to speak up. Not everyone is happy to hear what I have to say!
